KAPS Transmissions is leading the race to continually deliver the latest technology improvements to race teams around the world. Our transmissions are produced to the highest standards and are second to none. The engineering of our products are redefining the standards set for the transmission industry as outlined below.
KAPS Transmissions Design
All parts from the KAPS Transmissions range are designed in from our own engineers with CAD/CAM software. With every opportunity given, we look to enhance the strength of every part of the transmission, whether it be the gears, shift rods, locking mechanisms or even the bearings. Moreover, KAPS Transmissions produce a number of extra critical parts that are supplied with our kits compared to other manufacturers, who use parts from the standard series transmission.
Our race experience has shown that if small, but vital components of a transmission are not included in a kit, it can be the difference between 1st place and a DNF. We never compromise on quality.
Patented Technology
KAPS Transmissions dogkits contain the latest in shifting advancements. Our unique patented system for dog engagement replaces the 50 year old methods employed by other manufacturers and has proved successful with the results from our customers. For homologated classes, the shift lever must remain, but the distance the shift lever must move to engage the gear can be shortened. KAPS Transmissions’ design enables the driver shorter gear shifts, thereby enabling quicker stage times. According to our measurements the time saving between the synchronous and our dog-box transmission is approximately 0.2 second per kilometre, which means 40 seconds to the credit per 200 km of speed tests.
The geometry of the tooth curve is designed as special circle system which provides lower rolling-resistance force and higher strength – this means lower power losses and decreased noise.
Manufacturing
All the material for our transmissions are sourced from experienced European suppliers. All parts produced for our dog kits are manufactured on CNC machines to ensure the precision detail required for race transmissions.
Additionally, we employ the latest in heat treatment technology for our components. This finishing process is only small step, but is always a critical step in the overall manufacturing process. Our 20 years of experience in this area has allowed us to uncover the optimum balance of heat treating all of our parts for the highest strength and durability levels.
