The Barum Czech rally in Zlín is a long-term traditional rally that has come to its completion for the 39th year.

Once again, the crowds were amazing, filling up every vantage point on every special stage. Rally is an extremely popular sporting line in the Czech Republic that is expressed by crowds of enthusiastic fans, and over 200 000 people had come to witness the 2009 race. Since 1983 the rally has became a part of European Rally Championship and since 2007 it is also a part of Intercontinental Rally Challenge.

With every stage proving to be difficult to navigate due to their slippery and narrow roads, only the top drivers would find themselves at the top of the standings. The eventual win was taken by the Czech Jan　Kopecký with codriver Petr Starý in their Skoda Fabia. Second place went to the Brit Kris Meeke　and　Nagle Paul for Peugeot, with third taken out by Juho Hänninen andMikko Markkula in the second Skoda Fabia.　　　　　

Holding the flag high for the Mitsubishi manufacturer was Vaclav Pech. Finishing eigth overall in the Barum Rally in a field with some much faster cars and able to keep pace is a tremendous result. Driving with the KAPS Transmissions Evo IX dogkit that never missed a beat, Pech once again stands out as a world class driver. He finished the rally 6 minutes and 22 seconds in front of the next placed Evo IX of Arazim Václav, who was down in 14th position.
