Before the beginning of sprint season, Seznam.cz Rally Team, supported by its partners NejlevnejsiPneu.cz and Otomoto.cz, offered to Jarka Orsák the possibility to start in Rally Lužické hory with his Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX team car. There was not much to expect from the young driver to attain such an excellent placing. Foundations of the final victory were already laid by Jaroslav Orsák under navigation of Karel Vajík in the first and longest speed trial of the entire competition. They literally flew away from their competitors by more than eleven seconds to keep their lead all the way to the finish.
“Karel and I made ourselves understand that we will be in gear in the first rally stage. We knew this is the longest interlude of the entire competition, some of our competitors are gonna drive for the first time this year to get into the shape only. We went into overdrive and it turned out well. Before the start, we passed a rather short twenty-kilometre test aimed at the adjustment of the seats and undercarriage. It was car mechanics who tuned the car basically in line with my instructions. I brought my own control unit for the differential made by KAPS Transmissions which was a perfectly complement to the transmission of the same brand built in my car. The employed shock absorbers are different from those I normally use, therefore my car jumped aside a little bit different on the first rally stage and this looked like a crisis externally but nothing dramatic happened.
After winning the first interlude we adapted ourselves to the pace of our competitors and maintained both the leading position and margin. We expected attacks in the second section, namely from Pepa Petak and Honza Štěpánek, so we moved fast as well but below the limit. We were in gear again in the sixth speed trial and that was decisive. The final stretch in Poland could not bring any change yet,” described Jarek Orsák briefly his tactic before the start and course of competition from his point of view.
“I feel satisfied as it was a very special competition from both us and the team. Seznam.cz Rally Team was excellent in preparing the car and it operated without any problems. Me and Karel could pay attention to our performance only. We strived to drive from the front from the very beginning. We considered it a success to be placed on a rostrum, however, anything up to the fifth position would be great. We were aware of who is our opponent in driving. Peták, the Semeráds, Pech, Štěpánek, and others are always very fast. Victory is superb from our point of view so it made me and Karel delirious with joy,” he added in conclusion as the glad winner of the first this year’s Rallysprint. At present, the crew of Jaroslav Orsák – Karel Vajík is already heading to Slovenia for Saturnus Rally where the crew is to perform its prestige duties.
