With still a mathematical chance of winning the title, Vaclav Pech was pushing all the way in the final round of the Czech Rally Championship – Rally Bohemia 2009.

"The suspense was there until the end, it was fantastic. Roman had difficulties at the beginning of the race and it looked like it gave us a chance, but then tightened. He is a deserved champion. In the end, I was just three points away from the championship, but that''s sport, "said Pech.

At the beginning of the season, it would have been hard to believe that there could be a fight between Vaclav Pech and Roman Kresta. The reason was simple - while Pech came with the Mitsubishi Lancer EVO IX, Kresta was armed with the Peugeot 207 Super 2000.

Skoda Motorsport driver Juho Hanninen won the 2009 Rally Bohemia, after setting fastest time on　three of the　five stages. Jan Kopecky finished 14.4 seconds behind　his team-mate, while Andreas Mikkelsen made it a Skoda clean sweep of the podium taking third in the A-Style Team/MRT Fabia S2000. Pech was the first of the Group N cars with an impressive 4th place to claim 2nd place in the Czech Championship.

Pech is little known worldwide, but his ability to push for podium places against cars with much more power than his Evo IX goes to show his skills behind the wheel. He had much praise for the whole team being able to provide him with the best support before, during and after racing.
